1955: Disneyland opens. (Price of admission: $1.) Â Walt doesn’t invite Mickey to the dedication for fear that the parks failure could tarnish the mouse’s image. He is all but replaced by Tinkerbell, who proceeds to take the mickey out of Mickey.
