History Schmistory, July 3: A News Day for Norway!

1767 – Norway’s oldest newspaper still in print, Adresseavisen, was founded and the first edition was published. They needed a way to adress-a the news-a to the peopla-a.

History Schmistory, July 2: Baffled By Baffin!

1578 – Martin Frobisher sighted Baffin Island. This is super great, however, it is the 5th largest island in the world & would slightly hard to miss!

Where’s Baffin? I can’t seem to find it. It should be called Waldo Island.

July 2nd – 1901, Montana – Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid rob train! They get away with $40,000!

History Schmistory: July 1st – William conquers!

July 1st 1690, Ireland – The Battle of the Boyne between the deposed British King James the II and the guy that took his crown, William III. This was the decisive battle in a long protracted struggle between the Catholic James and Protestant William, in the period know as the Glorious Revolution….and another example of how Williams are often destined to rule!
