NASA negotiates a collective agreement (CA) with the University of Alberta that sets out the terms and conditions for non-university staff. Below you will find the current collective agreement, the collective agreement 2016 -2019. For more information on making NAIT`s compensation available, visit our frequently asked questions section. For further questions, please contact compensation@nait.ca. All media requests should be addressed to NAIT Media Relations at 780.916.8307 or media@nait.ca. Please note that the timetable for negotiating a new collective agreement has been significantly disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the terms of the current agreement remain in effect until a new agreement is negotiated and ratified by NASA members. You can check out page 2019-20 Rate Updates to get the latest updates from this round of negotiations and to see the current status of the negotiating proposals. The consolidated database on the remuneration of public bodies is posted here. Approximately 45% of NAIT`s annual operating budget comes from operating grants from the Alberta government. The rest is generated by tuition fees, investment income, philanthropy, campus service revenues and other government resources, including federal funds. Since June 2016, the Alberta government`s Public Sector Compensation Transparency Act requires NAIT – along with all agencies, boards of directors and post-secondary agencies and institutions in the province – to disclose each year the name, position, compensation, non-monetary benefits and severance pay for all.
In 2004, the Technical Institutes Act was included in the Post-Secondary Learning Act, which establishes NASA as a business and is made up of academic staff from the Technical Institute. The NAIT Academic Staff Association is exclusively empowered to negotiate a collective agreement on behalf of academic staff. The collective agreement between the Board of Governors and the Academic Staff Association defines the conditions of employment. The NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) was established in 1982 as an association under Section 30 of the Technical Institute Act. The first part of the certification body – common provisions – applies to other parts of the certification body. If you have questions about the collective agreement, you can speak to a local union representative or your Employment Advisor (LRO). The law also stipulates that the affairs and affairs of the association are run by an executive elected by the agents. Part A specifically concerns “operational” employees, Part B in particular “trusted agents” and Part C in particular “EEL Instructors” at the extension faculty. This data is also available in CSV format and can be downloaded here.
